We are God’s managers

Read: St. Matthew 25:14-21

TextNow it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.  I Corinthians 4:2

In its context these words of the text are applied to the Gospel ministry. It is, however, in perfect accord with many Bible passages to apply them to all, young and old alike.

To everyone God has given certain talents of mind, body, and earthly possessions. These talents are, indeed, variously distributed, but everyone has received some. Over these God has set us to be stewards, managers, and to a certain extent we have the power to use them as we choose, but someday He is going to ask an accounting. We are not to use them selfishly, but we must employ them to His greater glory in our own life and for the good of our own fellow men.

The opportunities for loving service about us in our daily living are great if only we have eyes to see them! It gives us happy satisfaction to be faithful stewards, managers, of God’s gifts.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, make us conscious of our dependence on You with all that we are and all that we have. Help us to use daily what You have given for Your greater glory in our own life and for the good of others. Amen.
