Luther and Serenity
Read: Isaiah 26
Text – You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast; because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
It is not easy in these days to feel secure, especially when the future is so uncertain and full of danger as it is now. We cannot plan ahead so calmly as people did sixty years ago. The world has been upset by two World Wars and numerous skirmishes and minor wars, and now it is again being threatened with upheaval. The very truths of religion and the rules of morality are being questioned, and we are tempted to go with the crowd; but there is one who remains unchanged; God and His holy purpose. We can always rely on Him if we keep our mind fixed on His promises. He is always the final Victor; he will speak the last word, and His plans are all for our good. In the words of the prophet that Luther was fond of quoting, “…in quietness and trust is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
Prayer: Grant, O Lord, that amidst the manifold changes of this world may hearts be fixed in You. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
